About Esmeralda
Hi, I’m Esmeralda Lima. I’m an English language undergraduate at Bahia State University (UNEB) and TESOL certified teacher by Arizona State University.
Aiming to offer the best language learning methodologies to help my students, I’m always looking for professional development courses and investing in my continuing education. I hold a Business English Communications Skills certificate from the University of Washington. Besides that, I did training in the use of IELTS public descriptors (speaking and writing section) by IDP Australia. Webinars and MOOCs are some of my favorite investments of time.
From the day I became a teacher, before preparing the classes, I have always asked myself: Is it relevant? Is it useful? It’s interesting? Is it productive? Does it make it possible to talk a lot?
I understand that my student is the focus and that he/she needs to work hard in class with high-quality materials and topics that are important. My mission is to enable the English student to speak from the simplest to the most complex topics, always exercising critical thinking.
In my journey as a teacher, I have been helping Brazilians to develop communication skills in English using the communicative method. Conversation classes, IELTS preparation – speaking section, and vocabulary building are some of the services I have been offering to my students. In addition, I had the opportunity to work with Spanish speakers and also to teach basic English classes to students whose mother tongue is Persian.
In my free time, I enjoy watching series, reading, spending time with my family, and learning new things. I also like to write. I post some posts on my personal blog from time to time
