About Mamadou
Mamadou is a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate at Cornell University with a strong passion for mathematics, physics, and engineering problem solving. His coursework has provided him with a solid foundation in advanced mathematics, physics, computing, and engineering analysis, strengthening both his technical abilities and analytical thinking skills.
At Cornell’s Engineering Summer Math Research Institute (ESMI), he contributed to a research project focused on autonomous vehicle bottleneck flow. Alongside his peers, he developed stochastic and deterministic models to analyze traffic behavior and efficiency. Through this experience, he applied mathematical and engineering concepts to real-world challenges, strengthened his Python programming skills, and presented data-driven research findings to a broader audience.
Mamadou also serves as a Learning Assistant for Cornell’s calculus-based Electricity & Magnetism course, where he guides students through difficult physics concepts using collaborative and questioning-based instruction. This experience has strengthened his ability to explain complex topics clearly, patiently, and effectively.
Previously, he interned with the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), where he organized youth summits, collaborated with community organizations, and supported initiatives aimed at strengthening civic engagement and underserved communities. These experiences helped him develop strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
His interests within mechanical engineering include the energy sector and the design of environmentally sustainable systems. He hopes to combine technical knowledge, creativity, and collaboration to contribute to meaningful engineering solutions while helping students build confidence and success in STEM subjects.

As a Mechanical Engineering undergraduate at Cornell University, I focus on helping students build strong problem-solving skills and confidence in mathematics and physics rather than simply memorizing formulas. I currently serve as a Learning Assistant for Cornell’s calculus-based Electricity & Magnetism course, where I guide students through challenging concepts using questioning-based instruction and collaborative problem solving.
My teaching style is patient, interactive, and tailored to each student’s learning pace. A typical lesson begins with reviewing important concepts, followed by step-by-step worked examples and guided practice problems to strengthen understanding. I also emphasize problem-solving strategies, critical thinking, and explaining the “why” behind each method so students can apply concepts independently on exams and homework.
What sets me apart is my engineering background and experience teaching complex STEM topics in both academic and collaborative settings. I connect classroom concepts to real engineering and physics applications, making lessons more engaging and practical. My lessons are ideal for middle school, high school, AP, and introductory college students studying algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and physics.
