About Cassidy
I am passionate about helping students grow in both their understanding and their confidence. I know that science can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I strive to create a patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through difficult concepts. My goal is never to make a student feel behind, but to meet them where they are and help them move forward step by step.
I take each student’s goals seriously and come prepared to make our time together productive. Whether a student is struggling with a particular topic, preparing for an upcoming exam, or simply wants to strengthen their overall understanding of biology, I tailor my approach to their individual needs.
Above all, I want students to leave each lesson feeling more capable and confident than when they began. I believe that with clear explanations, consistent practice, and the right support, even difficult subjects can become understandable and enjoyable.

My approach to tutoring is centered on helping each student truly understand the material rather than simply memorizing information for an exam. I believe students learn best when complex topics are broken down into clear, manageable concepts and connected to examples they can understand and remember.
I begin by identifying what the student already understands, where they are struggling, and how they learn best. From there, I tailor each lesson to their individual needs. I use diagrams, real-world examples, practice questions, and step-by-step explanations to make difficult biology and science concepts easier to understand. I also encourage students to explain concepts back to me in their own words, which helps identify gaps in understanding and builds confidence.
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material and the student's current questions. We then work through the main topic together, focusing on both understanding the concepts and applying them to problems or exam-style questions. At the end, we review the most important ideas and identify what the student should continue practicing.
As a Cornell University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, I have experience with rigorous college-level science coursework and understand how challenging these subjects can be. What sets me apart is my ability to make complicated scientific concepts approachable while adapting my teaching style to the individual student.
My lessons are appropriate for middle school and high school science students, including students taking biology and advanced biology courses, as well as undergraduate students seeking additional support in biology and related life sciences. Whether a student wants to improve their grades, prepare for an exam, strengthen their foundational knowledge, or gain confidence in science, I aim to create a supportive environment where they can ask questions and genuinely understand what they are learning.
