About Nam
I studied with John Weems from 5-18 years old. I performed in the Houston Young Artists' finalists concert at 6 years old and was Virtuosi of Houston's pianist by 8th grade. In 9th grade, I got 1st chair piano in Symphony, Texas All-State Orchestra and later on 2nd place TMTA State Piano Concerto Competition.
I then moved on to different fields such as computer science and fashion. Recently, I have decided to return to my musical roots. In addition, I have been an academic tutor for a year at multiple offices as well as privately. I currently also private tutor music theory, sight reading, and piano.

I was a classically trained concert pianist, so I can go by level books and conventional methods from my experience as a student and teacher. However, I value the simple love for music over all else, so I welcome teaching through avenues that the student gravitates toward--whether that's playing by ear, learning transcripts of their favorite tunes to learn sight reading, or working on specific trouble spots or goals that the student wishes to achieve. Creativity is key in the process of exploration and learning of the craft.
