About Tumi

If words were an ocean, I’d be a fish underwater. Since I can remember, I’ve loved writing and telling stories, whether through poetry, fiction, or simply exploring the magic of language. I love reading stories and discovering pieces of ourselves within the words. This is who I am, Tumi: a lover of English, a storyteller, and a discoverer of voices. I believe we are all storytellers, whether English is your favourite subject or not. I want to help every student gain confidence and competence in English, while also guiding lovers of English to hone and perfect their skills. I’ve been teaching and mentoring students for over seven years, and I used to teach full-time. I hold a BA in English Literature with Creative Writing and an MA in Creative Writing, and I also write, edit, and publish poetry and manuscripts. Travel inspires me, and I bring that curiosity and imagination into lessons that are interactive, personalised, and fun.

About the lesson

I take a creative and practical approach to tutoring, helping students build confidence, improve their writing, and strengthen their analytical skills. Lessons are interactive and discussion-based, so you’ll not just complete tasks, but really understand how to think critically and analyse texts effectively. Whether you’re preparing for exams, coursework, or developing your own creative writing, I focus on clear explanations, practical exercises, and personalised feedback. I love helping students discover their own voice and see the progress they’re capable of making. Each session lasts 50 minutes to an hour, with activities tailored to your goals. From improving essay analysis and argumentation to developing creative projects or professional writing skills. I have a BA in English Literature with Creative Writing and an MA in Creative Writing, and I’ve been teaching and mentoring students for seven years. I also work as an editor and writer, so I bring real-world experience to help you improve both technically and creatively. I tutor secondary school, A-Level and university students, and aspiring writers. If you want to improve your grades, sharpen your analysis, or grow as a writer, I tailor each lesson to your level and personal goals.
