About Robin

I am a preschool teacher, trained at Edge Hill University. I hold a 1:1 BA in Creative Writing and a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status.
Aside from my professional qualifications, I am an all-rounder creative whose main skills lie in cartoon illustration, storytelling, and theatre and screen performance.

I truly love utilising my passion for the arts with my passion for helping others, hence the preschool teaching! However I would like to reach beyond the preschoolers and offer what I can to other budding creatives or students who find themselves struggling (GCSEs are tough! I was you not too long ago!) I like to think of this as not just an exchange from myself to you, but a collaborative experience as you may have something to teach me as well!

About the lesson

I believe in a casual, laid-back approach to both teaching and revision as who can really learn when stressed out and pressured?
My style of teaching is friendly, low-pressure, and more guidance-based than instruction-based, and I enjoy working collaboratively with the student to figure out how we will get from A to B. Having a hand in their own learning enables a student to support themself beyond tutoring sessions and the school day, an important lifelong skill.

I expect a typical session to be an hour, but how this hour pans out will be based on student needs.

KS3/GCSE students would be expected to show me the material they are covering in the first free 30 minute session, and we can discuss together which in which areas they require support, and collaborate together on how we get there.

People seeking creative writing guidance can expect a casual session that we can fully adapt to what support they are seeking. This could be a person to provide lessons on creative writing techniques to take away and use in their own creative work, or a person to read what they have so far and offer advice or the space to workshop their writing in order to progress their project further. It's really up to the individual :)
