About Downey
I am a credentialed math teacher with classroom experience teaching a range of high school math courses. My lessons focus on helping students truly understand math rather than memorizing steps. I begin each session by identifying gaps in understanding, then break concepts down into clear, manageable pieces using real examples and guided practice. A typical lesson includes reviewing key ideas, working through problems together, and building strategies students can use independently. I emphasize organization, problem-solving habits, and confidence so students feel prepared in class and on assessments. Lessons are designed for middle school and high school students, including Algebra, Geometry, and higher-level math. My classroom experience allows me to adapt instruction to each student’s learning style and academic goals.
