About Jerome

As current 7th grade English Language Arts teacher, I bring both professional training and real classroom experience to every tutoring session. I'm here for the students, and if students aren't engaged, but rather bored and uninterested all the time, everyone is practically wasting their time. I strive to make lessons/sessions engaging, interactive and digestible so that academic growth is ACTUALLY taking place.
Well I do specialize in the English language arts field (reading, writing, vocabulary development, and critical thinking), my credential allows me to support students across all core subjects. Every lesson I provide is structured, purposeful, and aligned with academic standards.

Students and families can expect professionalism, reliability, and clear communication. I create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building skills, and gaining confidence. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but to equip them with strategies they can carry into the classroom and beyond.

As a California-credentialed teacher and current 7th grade ELA instructor, my approach is structured, supportive, and student-centered. I focus on building both academic skills and confidence by meeting students where they are and helping them grow step-by-step.

I use a gradual release model (“I do, we do, you do”) to guide students from understanding to independence. Lessons are interactive and tailored to each student, incorporating guided practice, real-time feedback, and strategies they can apply in the classroom.

A typical session includes a quick check-in or review, direct instruction on a targeted skill (such as reading comprehension or writing structure), guided practice together, and independent practice with feedback. I also provide tips and strategies students can use beyond our sessions.

I am a full-time classroom teacher with a Multiple Subject Credential, meaning I understand curriculum standards and how to support students across subjects. My background from the UC Berkeley and current master’s/credential program at UMass Global keeps my teaching methods current and effective.

I work with elementary and middle school students (K–8), especially those needing support in reading, writing, and overall academic skills. I also help students who want to build confidence, improve study habits, or get ahead academically. The goal for me is always the growth and development of the students. My teaching style is patient, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs. I focus on building both academic skills and confidence, whether your child needs help catching up, staying on track, or being challenged further. I strive to make learning engaging, approachable, and even enjoyable. My goal is always to meet students where they are and help them succeed.
