About Presley
I’m a 23 year old student finishing up my degree at MacEwan university. I grew up playing hockey as a goaltender, and developed an extreme passion for the sport. When I was in 6th grade, I had a really cool science teacher. However, I didn’t start to notice how much I really loved science until I was in grade 9, also because of a really cool teacher. In grade 10, I excelled in science far more than any other subject. At this point I knew science was for me. In grade 11 my biology teacher was a goalie coach, so I enjoyed his class a lot. I loved learning about the processes within the human body. Grade 12 I showed my passion for biology even more, and the love just kept growing. My first cellular biology course in university was taught by a marine biologist who had a recognizable passion for science, and I knew I wanted to pursue a career in biological sciences. Since then, I have established a strong foundation of knowledge and a curious mind. I want the same for my students!

I would like to note that I’ve never tutored before! I am a visual learner, and I like to have multiple explanations for a subject. For example, some people can picture processes in their head, and some people need to physically see them or use materials to create a better learning experience. I will teach you how to properly take notes, study methods, and good student habits. Biology is often referred to as a subject of “memorization”, however this is not the case. It’s important to understand the foundations in order to comprehend the terms. In biology, there’s a strong connection to chemistry, especially in nature. I will help you understand the basics and teach you how to keep it all in your brain. Using a pneumonic is extremely helpful for memory. Active recall is important, but understanding the concepts and background are key. I will teach you how biology works, the way I Do!
