About Isabella
Hello, I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Growing up, I loved math; it is one of the things that made me want to pursue engineering. All of my current classes, while not specific math math classes, are based off math which keeps me in constant practice.

My high school math teacher used to say "An example is worth a thousand words". I, personally, could not agree with that more. Math is one of those subjects where continual practice of solving problems is needed. This is the foundation for my approach when teaching any math subject. There are multiple steps to any math problem. First, the student must be able to interpret and understand what the question is asking. Second, they must know what to do in order to arrive at the answer, and third, they must be able to execute. As I am tutoring I run through these steps with the student as they solve. I also look for any gaps in their knowledge from previous math classes.
Above is a broad approach for my tutoring, which can only become more specified once I meet the student that I will be teaching. With math, there is always the moment when it clicks in a students head, but that moment and how to achieve it is different for every student. Some may need more examples and practice, while others may need a more thorough conceptual explanation. I always encourage questions, and I also always am asking them questions along the way to ensure that they are following along.
