Allison and I have known each other since we were 14 and 15, having met at our first job. What I appreciate the most about Allison’s teaching methods is how she doesn’t just fix the issue; she walks you through the problem and explains better ways to approach it. She also never makes you feel “dumb” for doing something wrong. A shared experience we have regarding her helping teach me is my five-part essay in one of my classes. I’ve never been very good at grammar, and she’s helped me along the way by giving me suggestions and ideas on how to fix or approach the assignment. For my assignment, I’ve had to use DMACC resources to write on, and Allison has helped so much by showing me around DMACC and teaching me about all the resources they provide to students. She’s helped peer review my assignments to better highlight errors I’ve made along the way and helped me form better writing habits.
