About Amy
I am a Masters of Earth Sciences student at McMaster University. I achieved top marks in my undergraduate degree, BSc in Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences, as well as completed a concurrent certification in Geographic Information Sciences and a minor in Computer Sciences. I have done private tutoring with elementary and highschool students, taught piano and music theory lessons, and I am currently a Teaching Assistant for McMaster University. I am qualified to teach a variety of subjects, and have experience teaching privately and with larger groups.

I have worked with a variety of age groups, from grade 4 through to grade 12, as well as worked as a university level Teaching Assistant in various science, geography, and data science type courses.
I like to focus on teaching foundational concepts and solidify that foundation through practice. I give students the tools they need to succeed as well as the motivation they need to do that. If a student is able to reach an answer on their own, with just a little extra guidance, that is infinitely more valuable for their understanding and retention than simply telling them the answers and procedures.
I am very passionate about math and science and love to share my enthusiasm! I also have a learning disability myself, so I am understanding of the struggles associated with learning difficulties such as ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and autism, and know how to accommodate.
