About Makyla

I am a 19-year-old Black and Mexican American student pursuing a Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Los Angeles as a Psychology Major with a minor in Chicano/a Studies going into my third year of college. As previously stated, I am a Supervisor to the English discipline of UCLA's Academic Advancement Program where we facilitate sessions with peers at our University to aid them in their writing and other concerns specific to English discipline. I graduated high school in 2020 at St. Pius X St. Matthias Academy, top 3 in my class with a cumulative GPA of 4.45.

About the lesson

My lessons are aimed towards the direct needs of the student, utilizing an adaptive tutoring approach that takes into consideration what style of learning is best for them. As I continue to get to know my student, lessons will be more closely suited to their character in order to produce the best results in their reading and writing abilities.

Together we can work to express ideas and creativity, as well as improving the clarity and strength behind student's writing arguments and other assignments. Even if you just need someone to proofread your writing, or perhaps help you learn how to properly cite your work, our time together will enable you to do these things on your own once we are through.

As I have helped my fellow students at UCLA, I am experienced in adapting to different learning approaches and look forward to working with diverse students. I understand the stresses of learning and can sympathize and ease one's stress by providing reassurance and implementing easy-to-understand writing and reading methods in our sessions to overcome anxieties.

Tutoring sessions are for anyone in elementary, high school, and college looking for aid in their reading and writing abilities. I specialize in high school and college essay writing, with prominence in psychology and Chicano/a studies.
