About Eliott
Hi! My name is Eliott Lanz, and I’m a Writing major at the University of Southern California. As a student deeply engaged in the craft of writing, I’ve developed a strong foundation in academic, creative, and persuasive writing, along with a keen understanding of grammar, structure, and clarity. What I love most about tutoring is helping others find their voice and confidence on the page. Whether it's organizing ideas, polishing essays, or breaking down grammar rules, I aim to make the writing process more approachable and even enjoyable. I’ve worked with peers at USC on everything from personal statements to research papers, and I understand how challenging writing can be—especially when you're staring at a blank screen. I'm patient, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping students grow as writers. I believe that good writing is a skill anyone can learn with the right guidance, and I’m excited to help make that happen.

A typical lesson would firstly consist of any reading or writing projects a student is currently working on. This could include college applications, papers, book reports, etc. Secondly, if a student simply wishes to brush up on their grammar and writing ability, I have a lesson plan! 1. Warm up: Creative writing-based prompt to get the creative juices flowing! 2. Grammar Exercises: (Dependent on student's ability) (an initial assessment will be provided) 3. Personal Statements/supplementals: Student will pick from a plethora of prompts to select something they are excited to write about. 4. Feedback and Revision. I will personally review and give feedback on the student's writing, demonstrating areas of improvement which will then be used to tailor future lesson plans.
