About James
Hi, I’m a university student who is studying film making. However, one of my greatest loves in life is maths and I want to reconnect with it after a few years break from the subject. Maths is all around us everyday and as much as some people say you never use it once you leave school, they’re wrong. I have used it everyday since leaving school, and even now it’s an important part of my filmmaking role. Whether it’s managing budgets, working on a set, or working with a camera.

I understand that all students learn at a different pace, and some work better with different approaches. In the first lesson I will try to get to know you, and your approaches to studying, as well as a general gage at your skill within the subject. From there we may need to approach a specific topic within the subject, or you may need me to follow along your current studies as a top-up, or it could be best that we approach a topic before you do in your regular studies so you are more relaxed and ready when they show up. In general each session will start with a brief discussion about where you feel you are at/struggling within the subject, followed by a lesson where we will approach the topic with a few problems to test you. Throughout the lesson I will make sure that you are following along, and change my approach if you are struggling. At the end of the session I will let you know where how I feel about how the lessons are going, and give you the chance to also give feedback. Occasionally there may be a few problems as homework, but I tend to set these as a way to test your skills for the next topic we will cover.
