About Michael

I topped English, Ancient History, and Legal Studies in my senior years with marks averaging around 90. What made the difference wasn't just putting in the hours; it was figuring out how to actually study effectively, especially for essay subjects where most students lose marks on structure and technique rather than content. That's what I bring to my tutoring now. I've been teaching HSC essay subjects for over three years, covering Legal Studies, English Advanced, English Extension, and Economics. In that time I've helped students get into selective schools and into law at university. I focus on getting students to think critically and write with precision, not just memorise content and hope for the best.

About the lesson

I like using technology in my lessons as both a visual aid and a way to get students thinking rather than passively absorbing content. I build activities like virtual scavenger hunts where students work in pairs or small groups to find and reason through answers together, which keeps things engaging without losing the academic rigour. Each lesson runs for about an hour. I've been tutoring for over three years now, starting in my senior years of high school and continuing through my law and commerce degree at UNSW. My lessons are designed for Australian high school students, and I also work with students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
