About Sreya

Hi, I'm Sreya, and I'm glad you're here!

I earned my Master's in Computational Science from Rutgers University, where I built a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and programming. Today, I work as a business analyst, where I analyze complex processes, work with data, and write clear documentation and training materials that help teams understand how things work. In other words, a big part of my job is taking something complicated and making it simple, which is exactly what I love doing as a tutor.

My professional experience gives me something many tutors don't have: I use the math, writing, and technical skills I teach every single day. I can show students not just how to solve a problem, but why it matters and where it shows up outside the classroom.

I take every student's goals seriously. Whether your child needs to raise a grade, prepare for an important test, or rebuild confidence in a subject they've been dreading, I come to every lesson prepared, on time, and focused on real progress. Parents can expect clear communication about what we're working on and how their student is improving.

My teaching method
Every student learns differently, so I start by figuring out where you are and where you want to be. In our first lesson, I'll ask questions, look at recent homework or tests, and find the exact spot where things stopped making sense. From there, I break each topic into small, manageable steps and build up until the full concept clicks. I use real-world examples wherever I can, because understanding why something matters makes it much easier to remember.

I don't just give answers. I guide students to work through problems themselves, asking questions like "what do you notice?" and "what could we try next?" This builds the confidence and problem-solving skills they need when I'm not there, like on test day.

A typical lesson
Each session follows a simple structure:

Quick check-in (5 min): What's coming up in class, and what's feeling tricky?
Warm-up (5–10 min): A short review of last lesson to lock in what we learned.
New material or homework help (30 min): We work through the main topic together, step by step, with plenty of practice.
Wrap-up (5–10 min): The student explains the idea back to me in their own words, and I share a few practice problems or exercises for the week.
