About Ravi kiran
Hi, I'm Ravi Kiran. I've spent the last 12+ years working in data and business analysis, first with Tata Consultancy Services in Hyderabad and now as a Senior Business Analyst at BT Group in the UK, where I work daily with data to uncover insights that help the business make better decisions and run more efficiently.
My specialism is revenue assurance and process optimisation — essentially, using data to find out what's really going on inside a business, why something isn't working as it should, and how to fix it. This has meant becoming genuinely fluent in Excel, not as an academic exercise, but as the everyday tool I rely on to analyse figures, build reports, and present findings clearly to senior stakeholders who need to trust what I'm telling them.
I started tutoring because I kept noticing the same gap: people either learn Excel in a very theoretical way that doesn't map onto real work, or they pick up bad habits through trial and error and never build proper confidence. Having used Excel seriously in a corporate environment for over a decade, I can bridge that gap — teaching it the way it's actually used to solve real problems, at whatever pace and level suits you.
I take tutoring seriously and prepare properly for every lesson. Whether you're a complete beginner, a student working towards exams, or a professional who wants to use Excel more confidently at work, you can expect patient, structured, and genuinely practical teaching from someone who uses these exact skills professionally every day.
I'm based in Cheltenham and look forward to helping you build real, lasting confidence with Excel.
— Ravi Kiran

My approach
I teach Excel the way I use it every day — as a tool for solving real business problems, not just a list of functions to memorise. Over 12+ years working in revenue assurance and process optimisation (at TCS and now as a Senior Business Analyst at BT Group), I've built my own Excel skills entirely around turning messy data into clear, actionable insight for decision-makers. That's the lens I bring to teaching: every formula, pivot table, or chart is taught alongside a real-world reason you'd actually use it — spotting trends, catching errors, building a report someone will actually read.
Lessons are hands-on and example-led. I start by understanding what you actually need Excel for — whether that's passing exams, handling data at work, or building your own tracking sheets — and build the lesson plan around that, rather than working through a generic syllabus. We work on real or realistic datasets from the start, not abstract exercises.
Lesson length
Sessions typically run 1–1.5 hours, which is usually enough to properly cover one skill area (e.g. formulae, pivot tables, dashboards) with time to practise, without it becoming overwhelming. I'm flexible on this and happy to adjust based on what suits you.
My experience
I'm not a career trainer — I'm a working data professional. I use Excel daily to analyse business performance, build models, and present findings to senior stakeholders in a corporate environment, which means I teach practical, current, workplace-relevant Excel rather than textbook theory. [Placeholder — add here if you've done any formal training, mentoring, or induction of colleagues at TCS/BT, as that strengthens this section.]
Who this is for
These lessons suit complete beginners who want core Excel confidence, students preparing for coursework or exams, and working professionals who want to use Excel more effectively for their job — from basic formulae and formatting up to pivot tables, lookups, and building simple dashboards for business reporting. Lessons are in person, offline, based in Cheltenham.
