About Daniel
Hi!
I’m Daniel. I'm 25, currently living in Solihull and working as a Data Scientist for the UK Home Office. I'm offering data science/coding tuition to anyone who needs it. I have been tutoring for over 6 years and have delivered over 1500 hours of lesson time.
My academic background consists of a 1st class in Mathematics BSc followed by a Distinction in Electrical Automotive Engineering MSc.
I first started tutoring maths during my 2nd year at university in London. After my own classes, I would drive around the streets of South West London tutoring students from primary to degree level (at that time). It was a great way to meet people, improve their grades but also ensure that my fundamentals remained fresh! Over the last few years, online tutoring has become the main way I tutor.
What can you expect from me? I value every single on of my students. I want them to succeed. So, tutoring requires more than just imparting knowledge, it's about making sure the surrounding factors are in order. The knowledge, mindset and organisation need to work together in harmony to achieve one's best result. So you can expect to see me go above and beyond to enable them to do their best. This can mean doing over-time, or helping with quick impromptu questions over text.
Because data science is such a massive field, a lot of help is needed to guide students in the right direction. This can mean explaining what they need to learn and in what order as the field can be overwhelming with stuff to learn!

Data science is an endless field and so the first step would be to figure out the learning objectives. What does the student want to learn in particular? Here are some examples:
- Learn foundations of Python/SQL/Command Line
- Learn how to use Python with data (Pandas)
- Learn how to visualise data with Python (matplotlib)
- Learn how to write clean code and use version control (Git)
- Learn how to build machine learning models with Python
- Learn how to analyse geospatial data with Python
Once we know what to focus on, we can begin to study these using the most interactive and practical approach possible. This will depend on what is being learned. For Python, Google Colab is a good platform to collaborate on. But for SQL the best approach might be to screen share and collaborate that way.
As a Data Scientist at the UK Home Office I've developed skills to extract insights and knowledge from data. I have experience with a variety of data science techniques, including machine learning, data visualisation, and data wrangling. I am excited to share my knowledge and experience with others and to help them develop their skills in data science!
My lessons are primarily suited for:
- those without programming experience
- those with programming experience but who want to dive deeper into data science

Daniel has been tutoring my son (Year 9) and daughter (Year 11 GCSE) for a couple of years (and before that my other daughter when she did GCSE maths). He is an excellent tutor, explains well, sets homework if you’d like, goes through exam papers and is very patient. I would recommend Daniel without hesitation.

Daniel was always well prepared, patient and managed the sessions well. He was excellent with the children and polite and well mannered. Due to his tutoring my son managed to achieve a place at the selective school of our choice - I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Daniel tutored my 14 year old son in maths, preparing him for his return to school after a long summer break.
