About Lucy
I am a recent graduate student of The Academy of Contemporary Music, and a professional singer-songwriter. Gathering experience in teaching through voluntary positions prior to University, I assisted groups of up to 30 students achieve wonderful GCSE results, primarily teaching English (language and literature) and Music (industry skills, composition/songwriting and performance techniques). My Music Industry Practice Degree and wider experience within the music industry has allowed excellent and adaptable communicatory skills to be instilled within my work, considering the methods to reach both a wider demographic, and an academic audience. My work as a Youth Mental Health Awareness Ambassador for the NHS also contributed to my experience in public speaking and interpersonal skills, supporting my ability to build confidence in students- a quality which is imperative to carry through to further studies, and better yet, to employers.

My teaching methods in music are based solely on the needs and interests of the individual, due to the expressiveness and personal nature of creative fields, I see great value in approaching each session with a student-centric methods. I also consider the building of confidence within a student to be a highly transferrable skill, especially in the process of learning English language and literature, where both methodical groundwork and subjective viewpoints are necessary areas of development. Ultimately, my role as a tutor moulds to fit the student, with a primary focus on nurturing their pre-existing skills and interests towards learning, regardless of the currently exhibited ability, or level of study within the given subject.
