About Asha
Hi! I am a Chemistry tutor with an MSc and over 4 years of experience working with 200+ students at school and university level. Chemistry is a subject I am genuinely and deeply passionate about — the way that a relatively small set of fundamental principles about electrons, energy, and bonding can explain the behavior of all matter in the universe is remarkable, and making that click for students is one of the most satisfying things I do.
My specialist areas cover the full breadth of Chemistry: Organic Chemistry including reaction mechanisms, synthesis planning, stereochemistry, and spectroscopic analysis; Inorganic Chemistry including main group chemistry, transition metal chemistry, coordination compounds, and organometallic chemistry; and Physical Chemistry including thermodynamics, kinetics, quantum chemistry, electrochemistry, phase equilibria, and spectroscopy. I am highly experienced with all major exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Cambridge International, and IB, and I always tailor my teaching and practice materials precisely to the requirements of each student's specific course.
My students consistently describe my teaching as clear, structured, and genuinely helpful — not just for passing exams but for actually understanding the subject in a way that sticks. I have helped students who came to me barely managing to pass their coursework achieve top A-Level and university grades, and I bring the same enthusiasm, patience, high standards, and personal commitment to every student I work with, regardless of their starting point or target grade.

My approach to teaching Chemistry is rooted in building genuine conceptual understanding rather than surface-level memorization. I begin every new student relationship with a thorough diagnostic to identify exactly where their understanding breaks down — whether that is balancing equations, grasping molecular orbital theory, applying thermodynamic principles, or anything else — and I then design every subsequent lesson to fill those gaps in a logical, progressive, and highly efficient way.
I make extensive use of visual aids, detailed annotated diagrams, and carefully chosen real-world analogies throughout my teaching to make abstract Chemistry concepts tangible, memorable, and genuinely understandable. For Organic Chemistry, I walk students through every reaction mechanism step by step, explaining the underlying electron movements and chemical logic so that students understand the pattern of reactivity rather than trying to memorize individual reactions in isolation. For Physical Chemistry, I build strong mathematical foundations alongside deep conceptual clarity, ensuring students can handle both qualitative explanation questions and quantitative calculation problems with equal confidence. For Inorganic Chemistry, I teach through periodic trends, patterns, and underlying principles so that what might otherwise feel like arbitrary facts become logical and interconnected.
Exam preparation is woven into everything I do. I use extensive past paper practice and work through mark schemes with students so they understand exactly what examiners want to see. I teach structured answer frameworks for written questions, systematic approaches to multi-step calculations, and strategies for approaching unfamiliar question contexts with confidence. My sessions are always calm, structured, and focused on building both the knowledge and the mindset that top Chemistry grades require.
