Dedicated Piano , Music Theory, Piano Tutor and Private Tutor for Primary age pupils
Past experience and background:
I have worked as a primary school teacher for four years working within key stage 1 and 2, where I was also promoted internally to head of music. I have worked with many students over the years and am able to adapt my approach to suit the learning styles of each individual child. I am passionate about enabling the potential of my pupils and also have experience working with children with additional learning needs. Currently, I work as a private tutor for primary age pupils to help them achieve their individual goals and assist with maximising their educational potential. I also do supply work in local primary schools to keep my experience and knowledge of the current curriculum up to date. Alongside my primary education teaching, I also teach piano and have a music degree alongside ABRSM Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Music Theory.

Piano and music theory lessons:
I am a dedicated, hard-working and passionate teacher with extensive experience in classroom, group and individual music tuition. Lessons are tailored to encourage creative expression in children, to promote confidence and a love of music. Upon the first session, I will discuss your hopes and expectations for the lessons, whilst also taking into consideration the student’s current abilities (beginners welcome) and I will discover the best approach to engage the student. All goals and ambitions are welcome, I have an extensive experience in guiding pupils through ABRSM examinations with some passing with distinction. Equally, there is also a benefit to learning the piano simply for the art of performing and to foster a love of music.
SATS and private tutoring support:
Over the past several years, I have acquired lots of strategies to teach primary lessons effectively and I have gained a substantial lesson plan ideas to engage children. One of the methods I find particularly successful is the idea of Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract approach (CPA). This approach helps to develop a deep and sustainable understanding of maths in pupils. As this technique has been tried and tested within the Singapore method of teaching maths for mastery, it has helped students achieve their goals for learning.
