About Lily
I am currently earning my bachelor’s degree in Biology at Park University, where I complete frequent technical and academic writing. This has given me a strong foundation in clear communication, structured essay writing, and thoughtful revision. I bring that same clarity and patience into my tutoring. I also run cross country and track at Park! I work with elementary through high school students who want to improve their writing skills, whether for English class, essays, research papers, or general confidence. My approach focuses on understanding mistakes rather than just correcting them. We review the student’s work together, identify what is unclear or incorrect, and then I guide them through how to fix it. I also teach strategies that help prevent the same issues from happening again, such as better planning, outlining, and proofreading methods. A typical lesson might include reviewing a current assignment, practicing writing techniques, and applying those skills directly to the student’s work. My goal is to help students feel empowered and capable, not overwhelmed. I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping each student grow at their own pace while still developing strong, lasting writing habits.

I focus on building strong writing skills by helping students understand not only what to fix in their work, but why those changes matter. My teaching approach is supportive and structured. I start by identifying each student’s strengths, then we work together on the specific areas that need improvement, such as organization, grammar, clarity, or thesis development.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing the student’s current assignments or recent writing. We read through the work together, I highlight any unclear sections, and I guide the student in recognizing the mistakes themselves. Then we revise the writing step-by-step so the student learns how to correct the issue in the moment. I also teach strategies that help prevent repeating those same mistakes, such as outlining tools, proofreading steps, and sentence structure techniques.
What sets me apart is that I approach writing the way I approach technical work in my biology degree. I break skills down into simple, understandable parts and show students how to turn their ideas into clear, organized writing. I know that writing can feel intimidating, so I work to make the process manageable and confidence-building.
My lessons are for elementary through high school seniors, including students who need help with English class, essays, research papers, lab reports, creative writing, and general writing confidence. I adjust my teaching style to each student’s age, learning style, and goals, making sure they walk away feeling more capable each time.
