About Rocio

I work as lead vocalist on Cruise Ships all around the world with Royal Caribbean and NCL, for Jazz Quartets and Party Bands since 2017. In addition to the shows, I´ve been giving singing lessons onboard for the crew of different nationalities. To work on the ships you need to have a strong vocal technique so you can resist singing 4 hours a day, every day, for months. That´s why I´m sure I can help you reach out your best voice and performance skills.

I´ve been working as a singer and vocal coach for the last 10 years and I´ve been studying vocal technique for 15 years now. I have a Bachelor degree in Musicology from University of Buenos Aires (UBA), a degree in Vocal Technique from Jazz and Blues School of Music, and a Vocal Summit Certificate from Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) with Jeff Ramsey as my vocal coach. I´ve taken long seminars of Speech level singing, Bel canto vocal technique, Rabine´s method and vocal harmony ensembles. I have experience as a back and sessionist vocalist recording for projects all around the world. I´ve recorded featurings in New Orleans and New York, creating melodies and lyrics as well. I have participated on songs with different artists such as the rapper GhostFace Killah from Wu-tang Clan. I also have my own music in Spanish that explores R&B, Soul and Pop sounds.

Don´t hesitate to begin with your singing lessons! See you in class :)

I work as a lead vocalist on cruise ships all around the world. I have to sing 4 hours a day every day for months, and that requires a good vocal technique so my voice can stay healthy. I´ve been working as a singer and vocal coach for the last 10 years and I´ve been studying vocal technique for 15 years now.

I can help you improve your vocal resistance reaching a healthy and natural way of singing. We will go through different and entertaining exercises to work on your breathing and air dosing, your vocal registers (chest, mixed and head voice), your resonators, your pitch and musicality, your body awareness, among others. We will mostly work on your vocal technique in the first half of the lesson and on the second one, on your performance and repertoire. The lessons are customized for each student cause everybody´s voice and searching is different, so the format may vary.

Feel free to choose the songs and styles you like the most, and if not, I can guide you with a repertoire. I speak fluent English and Spanish, so our lessons can be done in the language you prefer. I can also help you sing Spanish songs. My lessons are for all ages and levels. I do not teach opera singing.

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

When I was 8 years old, I started singing in my school's children's choir, and I haven't stopped since. At 11, I began taking voice lessons with an opera singer, and at 14, I performed my first live show. Without a doubt, my favorite instrument is, and always will be, the human voice.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I listen to Adele, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder a lot. They have always been my biggest inspirations as singers, and I find their vocal techniques amazing and admirable.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I believe that teaching belting is one of the most fascinating and challenging aspects of vocal training. By developing this vocal quality, singers discover a unique sense of freedom and power in their voices. Being able to guide them through that journey is truly magical.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I think the piano is one of the most complex and challenging instruments to master. Like any instrument, it requires years of study, discipline, technique, and musical knowledge. Vocal technique is also a vast field, and there is always more to learn as long as you remain curious and open to growth. As a singer, I believe it is easier to achieve your goals when you trust both the process and your own abilities.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

Confidence and enjoyment. Sharing music with others, surrounding myself with passionate and knowledgeable people, staying curious, asking questions, making mistakes, and starting over when necessary. Above all, having patience with myself and trusting the process. There were many times when I felt frustrated because I studied and practiced tirelessly without seeing immediate results, but the results eventually came. Today, I work professionally as a singer, and it is incredibly rewarding to look back and remember everything I went through to get here.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Norah Jones, because I deeply admire her musicality and her piano playing. Michael Jackson, because I would love to ask him how he managed to do all those incredible things with his voice so effortlessly. And Ella Fitzgerald, because I would love to learn how she developed her extraordinary scat singing and those unbelievable melodic variations.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

While working as a singer for Royal Caribbean, I had to have a wisdom tooth removed. I spent five days recovering and was unable to sing. On the sixth day, I was told that I absolutely had to return to the stage for an R&B and Soul Tribute show, which included some very demanding songs. I still had stitches and could barely move my jaw properly.

It was one of the most nerve-racking performances of my career. I felt as though I was singing terribly, struggling with my pronunciation, and unable to reach certain notes. However, when the show ended, three audience members came up to congratulate me on my vocal technique and clear pronunciation.

That experience taught me the true value of solid vocal technique and understanding your own body as an instrument. Despite the limitations I was facing, I was still able to deliver a performance that connected with the audience.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I have great faith in my students' potential and firmly believe that anyone with a voice can learn to sing. I am honest and constructive in my feedback: if I hear something that can be improved, I will point it out and help my students work on it.

I enjoy sharing examples, videos, and resources because I encourage my students to be curious, just as I am, and to explore not only their own instrument but music as a whole.

Above all, I am patient and passionate. I love both teaching and performing, and I continue to work professionally as a singer. I believe that this combination of experience, dedication, and enthusiasm helps me make a real difference in the learning journey of every student who takes lessons with me.
