About Marcelo
I am a physics student who wishes to share my passion for the sciences with others and help students achieve the best grades. I have recently graduated with my undergraduate master's (MPhys) degree in physics at the University of Manchester with First Class honours. In October I will be starting a PhD in experimental particle physics at the University of Oxford. Prior to university, I studied A-level Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, achieving A*A*A* (and an A in AS-level Further Mathematics) and also attained 12 GCSEs, 10 of which at A*/A, including the sciences/maths.
Besides a clear knowledge of the sciences and of mathematics, I bring an infectious passion for the sciences that I hope comes across in my lessons. Besides helping students to improve their grades and build confidence for their exams, I aim to inspire a greater interest in my subjects.
I have tutored freelance for approximately 3 years now, advertising on sites such as Superprof. I have had students go through the new specification exams successfully and sat the new specification A-Levels and GCSE mathematics myself. In addition, during the summer between my 2nd and 3rd years of undergraduate study, I undertook a "Teach Physics" internship at a comprehensive secondary school with The Ogden Trust. This involved many hours in the classroom, as well as giving parts of lessons and a presentation about my experiences of applying to and going to university. I worked with year groups from Year 7 to Year 12 during my time in the internship. I have also volunteered in various mentoring roles as part of a scheme run by The Ogden Trust and the PASS scheme.

I base my methodology around the student, using practical examples. I will work on the weaker areas of the student in their subject, explaining the content, then move on to go over example exam-style questions and will often give practice questions for them to do and offer to mark them and give feedback. I have had students go through the new specification exams successfully and sat the new specification A-Levels and GCSE mathematics myself.
I offer lessons in Mathematics and Physics up to A-level and Chemistry up to GCSE.

Perfect! Marcello has been an excellent tutor for my daughter, helping her to prepare for GCSE Chemistry and Physics.
He is obviously incredibly knowledgeable but explains things in a way that she understands. He is also flexible regarding time and completely reliable.

Details
For GCSE lessons: £25/hr, £110 for 5 hours and £200 for 10 hours.
For A-level lessons: £25/hr, £110 for 5 hours and £200 for 10 hours.
I offer the first lesson for free (1 hour).
If lessons are cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson I would still expect payment. Payment would not be expected for lessons cancelled more than 24 hours in advance.
I will consider giving in-person lessons if you are within close distance. However, I would ask for an additional payment of at least £5 per lesson in that case.
