I teach mixing and recording in a musician-first way. I'll show you, we'll try it together, and then you can do it with guidance. A typical 60-minute lesson begins with your goals, a brief session setup, a clear skill focus (e.g., achieving a clean vocal, balancing instruments, or creating space around the listener), hands-on practice on your own song or audition, and simple next steps you can follow independently. I primarily work in Pro Tools and teach both stereo and immersive formats. As a Dolby Atmos-certified music mixer, I'll introduce Atmos in plain language, helping you prepare for the future of audio and music production.
What sets me apart is my dual background as a professional cellist and engineer. I speak both the artist's and the tech's language. I help beginners get comfortable quickly, and I also support professional musicians through the entire audition-recording process, including planning, microphone and take choices, session flow, and a polished, submission-ready bounce that meets current requirements.
Lessons are available for all levels (undergraduates and graduates welcome), offered in English or Spanish.
Your first class is free, allowing us to tailor your goals and create a personalized plan.

I have worked with Franco numerous times as a fellow musician and collaborator, particularly during important moments in my academic and professional journey.
Franco is a highly skilled and reliable audio engineer and musician. His approach is professional, detail-oriented, and deeply supportive of classical musicians' needs, especially in high-stakes situations like auditions and recordings.
Franco has helped me record multiple classical music audition tapes, both for music festivals and graduate school applications, which ultimately led to scholarships and assistantships. Beyond the high-quality recordings, Franco taught me the fundamentals of setting up successful recording sessions. His calm demeanor and professional understanding of classical performance make him an exceptional asset to any musician looking to showcase their craft.View more recommendations
