About Ashley
French is part of a seven-year tutoring career during which I have taught 310 students, many of them adults preparing for travel or informal daily use of the language. My own fluency developed through years of travel and informal immersion across French-speaking regions, giving me strong practical grounding beyond formal classroom study. I keep my teaching relaxed and encouraging, since I understand how intimidating it feels to speak an unfamiliar language out loud for the first time. Many students arrive worried about sounding foolish, and helping them relax into natural, confident speech is genuinely one of my favorite parts of teaching. I stay available between lessons for quick pronunciation questions.

My French lessons focus on practical, everyday conversation from the very first session, since most students want to actually use the language rather than simply pass a test somewhere down the line. Grammar is introduced gradually through patterns noticed in real dialogue, and I revisit tricky structures naturally over several sessions instead of expecting instant mastery all at once. Vocabulary is grouped around real situations like travel, shopping, and daily routines, since personal relevance makes retention far stronger than abstract word lists. I share short voice recordings after each lesson so students can review pronunciation at their own pace between sessions. Every lesson closes with an unscripted conversation entirely in French.
