About Ruairi
I'm Ruairi, originally from Brighton and currently studying Engineering at Durham. Outside of studying I captain a hockey team, play guitar and go to a lot of live music. I wanted to start tutoring because I remember what it felt like when a topic just wouldn't click, and how much it helped when someone explained it a different way to the classroom. That moment when something finally makes sense is genuinely satisfying, and I'd like to be on the other side of it for a bit. I'm patient and I'll always try to explain things in a way that actually makes sense rather than just repeating the textbook. Maths and science are subjects a lot of people find tricky, I just think with the right approach they're a lot more manageable than they seem.

I'm a second-year Engineering student at Durham and I tutor Maths, Physics and Chemistry at GCSE and A-level.
I'm a second-year Engineering student at Durham and I tutor Maths, Physics and Chemistry at GCSE and A-level. Maths has always been the subject I've genuinely enjoyed most, I also did the UKMT Maths Challenge all through school and got Gold three times, so I know the material pretty well. I don't really do the "let me explain this at you for an hour" approach. I'd rather figure out where things aren't clicking and work through it together, because usually it's one thing that's been confusing everything else. Once that lands, the rest tends to follow. Sessions are usually an hour. I'm back in Brighton for the summer and can do in person or online. Online works just as well honestly, especially if you want to share screens and work through problems live.
