About Calum
Hi, thanks for taking a look at my profile.
If you’re reading on after what sounds like a somewhat automated greeting I really do appreciate it, this is a slightly impersonal setting. Ironically, tutoring should be the antithesis of impersonal. There is little point bombarding a student with facts and exam technique if they are completely uninterested. This leads me on to the focus of my teaching which is to engage with the student not only as a pupil but find out what really makes them tick. By establishing a communication based not solely on the subject the lessons feel far less of a chore but uptake of knowledge is far more effective.
One of my great passions is engaging with people and my love of acting helps me adapt my style to the specific individual. I am in a comedy troupe at Durham University and a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and so feel very comfortable meeting new people as well as keeping a lesson active and compelling.
I hope that gives some overview of what I’m like as a tutor and I would love for you the consider me.
