About Elison
I am a dedicated tutor specializing in dyslexia, with a personal understanding of the challenges and triumphs that come with it. Diagnosed with dyslexia in 3rd grade, I’ve lived through the struggles and successes firsthand, which fuels my passion for helping others navigate their own learning journeys.
My approach is deeply informed by my personal experiences and professional training. I use multi-sensory teaching methods tailored to each student’s unique needs, incorporating techniques that helped me overcome obstacles in my own education. This includes visual aids, auditory exercises, and hands-on activities designed to make reading and writing more accessible and engaging.
A typical lesson with me starts with a review of previous material to reinforce learning and build confidence. We then introduce new content through interactive, multi-sensory activities, ensuring that each student can engage with the material in a way that suits their learning style. Lessons conclude with a recap and a preview of upcoming goals, always with a focus on positive reinforcement to keep students motivated.
What sets me apart is my personal journey with dyslexia. I understand the emotional and academic hurdles my students face because I’ve been there myself. This unique perspective allows me to offer empathy, encouragement, and practical strategies that truly resonate with my students. I am committed to creating a supportive environment where every learner can build their skills and confidence.
My tutoring is ideal for students of all ages and levels who are dealing with dyslexia, whether they need foundational support or advanced strategies to enhance their reading and writing abilities. My goal is to empower each student with the tools and confidence they need to succeed, drawing from both my personal experiences and professional expertise.
