About Gerry
Teacher since 1980. Have taught thousands of students in college and private tutoring, always with excellent results. Over 20 years as Chief Examiner for A-level Economics and have worked for all of the major examination boards (including IB) for both Economics and Business. OFQUAL Subject Expert in Economics. - What kind of experience do you have? I have taught Economics and Business Studies for over 40 years. I was Chief Examiner for A-level Economics for a major Board for 23 years. I am an OFQUAL Subject Expert in Economics. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes. I am a serving college teacher so have to keep my DBS and other safeguarding details up-to-date. - Where and with whom did you train? University of Leicester - Tell me about some of your current students. I teach students with a wide range of abilities both in college and in private tuition. They regularly achieve high grades.

I use a variety of methods depending upon the situation and how individual students learn. I encourage students to use different ways to learn, whilst adapting my teaching according to what helps them to make progress. I have found that it often helps for students to work out how they want to use my time rather than be passive learners. I am a very experienced teacher, tutor and examiner for Economics and Business Studies. I can help you to organise your work and develop effective study habits to enable you to achieve high grades. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach Economics and Business Studies to GCSE, A-level and degree level. - Tell me about your qualifications. I have a degree and teaching qualifications. - How much do you charge? I charge £60 per hour. - Where do you teach? I only tutor online. - When are you available? Weekday evenings. I don't tutor at weekends. - Which ages and levels do you teach? From 14 upwards - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? Economics and Business Studies to GCSE, A-level, IB and degree. - Describe your arrangements for online tutoring. I generally use Zoom but am exploring more specific tutoring software.
