I have achieved a first class in my first year of my Mathematics degree at a Russell group university and have experience tutoring GCSE, A-Level and Undergraduate students. I hope to help making learning more meaningful and rewarding to all students!

My teaching method for mathematics is simple. I make sure students know what the question is asking and highlight the key words that point towards the topic and method the examiner is looking for. I then allow them to work out the problem as best as they can, and make them guide me through each step because explaining your reasoning behind each step is what gives your answers structure and means you understand each part of the problem clearly. I will then remind them of a quicker/more effective method they can use and ask them to tell me through that method, because knowing more than 1 method for every possible question is what allows you to check your answer and solidify your thought process. Then I go through the problem explaining how I would tackle it. With maths, practise really does make perfect so I would make sure to repeat similar questions to those my students struggled to answer frequently so that they maintain practise until they get it perfect!
