About Kaitlynn
I am an energetic person who loves to continuously learn and help others feel excited and passionate about their learning experiences as well! I bring lots of joy and relatability into the spaces in which I work with students. I am passionate about helping others and have a lot of experience in working with students in both literacy and math. I tend to build strong relationships with the students that I work with and would love to have the opportunity to do that with you as well! In my free time, I love to read books, work out, walk dogs and cook at home!

When working with students, I start my lesson off by determining the current understanding and/or background knowledge that the students possesses in that content area. This allows me to provide "just in time" supports as needed, or to challenge them and increase their proficiency with a certain skill or learning standard.
One I know the student and their interests, I try to create a meaningful "hook" for the lesson that we are about to dive into. Based on my experience, I feel that students learn best when they find the content at hand meaningful and relevant in their lives.
All of the lessons that I engage students in are rigorous, standards-aligned and use practices from high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). I use a combination of guided instruction (we do) to help the students gain confidence in the content we are working on, but then prioritize giving them tasks, activities, and/or questions that will prompt them to do the heavy cognitive lifting and really build their understanding of the concepts.
