About Eloise
I'm a driven individual with a love of learning and creative pursuits. Education for all ages is very important to me because learning is not just about getting good grades, it also inspires, motivate and enriches our lives. For this reason I believe it is incredibly important to support learners who need it and to show them that learning can be really interesting!
Personally I find learning about history helps me to understand current world events, for example the events of the Cold War still have repercussions in today's society. Studying history also helps develop analytical and critical skills, which are crucial in the era of 'fake news' and misinformation on the internet. Therefore an understanding of history is valuable, as well as being an interesting subject to study.
Outside of education, I enjoy reading (my current book is 'Written in Bone: hidden messages in what we leave behind' by Sue Black), drawing, painting, and spending time with my family and pets. I aim to follow a career in educational institutions such as libraries and museums.
I have an enhanced DBS check.

My sessions are student-centred and personalised to each individual. During my sessions I will work to inspire and motivate students to do the best they can, through allowing them choice over the direction of the session and linking topics to their personal lives (where possible).
Sessions can be any duration up to 2 hours, however recommended length will change depending on the individual and their needs. These sessions are for GCSE students.
In terms of tutoring experience, I have previously carried out private 1:1 tutoring and homework help for GCSE students. Also my degree is in Education Studies, so I have thoroughly researched several different educational theories and methods.
History is my passion and I have continued to research in my spare time since finishing my History A-Level. My areas of specialism are the Cold War, Communism in the USSR and Mao's China, however I am happy to support other content/courses. I am also very experienced in essay writing, regularly achieving the highest grade with my university essays. This means that I can support the learning and revision of topic content, as well as helping with essay writing skills.
