About Bridget
I am a certified English teacher in FL and CT for the middle and high school grades. I am also a Special Educator and have worked in public and private schools. I have tutored many students online. I have Bachelors Degrees in English and Middle Level Education, a Master's in Special Education, a Specialist's Degree in Education Leadership and I am in the process of working to earn my Doctorate in Education Leadership with a focus on online learning. I am currently a high school Assistant Principal. I look forward to hitting the ground learning with you!

An educator must facilitate an environment that fosters a sense of safety and security, both physically and emotionally, while acknowledging all students as individuals with brilliant thoughts and compassionate hearts who deserve the opportunity to learn all that is available to them. I believe that students need to be able to trust those who teach them to first meet their basic needs before successful learning is expected. It is through this security that a student will take risks with their learning, have the freedom to fail, and through that failure find success by extending learning and skill development.
I believe that all students have the right to receive an appropriate education created through collaboration by all people involved in the child’s life, including the child. Educators must be able to recognize a student's needs: academically, emotionally and socially in order to create a space and design lessons that celebrate and address all individual needs in ways that are rigorous and relevant, exciting and dynamic. Leaders must provide exemplars, models, and opportunities for growth and development to educators with the intention of achieving the exceptional educational programs to meet students’ needs. Learning must be facilitated for all by identifying the content of high interest and developing a curriculum that addresses each student's skill development needs. Instruction should be individualized to meet the specific needs and learning styles of the learner. Content instruction without sufficient skills intact will be futile. First, students’ skill abilities must be assessed to ensure that they have the tools necessary to attend to content tasks.
The culture of a community will determine an individual’s success. Through established work rules and norms, discourse should be honored among all community members. Parents, stakeholders, and outside providers need to be welcome in open dialogue as plans of instruction are developed for students. Together these plans should demand that learning be interactive and exciting where students laugh often and feel success daily. An educator must bring to their work humor, compassion, dedication, and an endless supply of energy. Teachers and leaders need to be bright and intuitive, emotional and professional, calm and fair. Educators and community members who affirm these characteristics will support a learning environment to foster student achievement and excellence.
