About Rory

I have been working as a producer for 11 years and releasing under my current alias for 5 years on labels such as Abducted Records and Kill Tomorrow. I’ve received support from Blackout Music and Shellshock Recordings and artists such as Ed-Rush, Redpill and Mean-Teeth.

My musical journey has led me to experiment and master a wide range of production techniques that cover aspects such as sound-design, song-writing, mixing and mastering as well as very important, workflow and creative mindset, skills and strategies. I have also been formally educated in music production via both a Diploma and Bachelor degree and I am qualified as a VET level trainer. I’m already well versed at working with training individuals in a one on one environment and am now bringing that experience into the world of music.

I’m passionate about teaching, mentoring and tutoring in general and love to discuss music production. These attributes go hand in hand to create a strong and positive tutoring mindset which I'm eager to impart upon my students. I’m always trying to upskill myself in both music production and my training delivery skills to ensure the best result for whomever I am working with.

My students will learn everything from fundamentals to advanced music production techniques and everything that influences your studio including software and plugins, hardware and monitoring choices, studio setup and optimisation, room acoustics and material construction and more. I can also give advice on how to progress through the music industry via networks, contacts, collaborations and labels. I’m easy going and happy to chat about anything music so I’ll be there to support you!

5 years ago, I was struggling to improve my production skills and finally decided to cough up a few hundred bucks to learn from a tutor. It completely changed how I make music. It’s the skills and creative approaches I learnt there that I refined into what I do today. Sure, these days there’s a ton of online content that’s extremely valuable by demonstrating all kinds of techniques, but being able to work with another who can put all that information into context for you as a creative makes a world of difference.

I’ve been making electronic music for 11 years and experimented with numerous styles including Dubstep, Trap, House and Drum & Bass; which is what I’m currently creating. I’ve completed Higher education, including a Diploma and Bachelor relating to music production, and I’m formally certified as a VET trainer.

Through years of skill development I have learnt a wide range of production techniques that allow me to teach a robust course in music production. I can cover anything from the very fundamentals of what your software can do, to using advanced techniques with a range of routings and plugins.

Before the first session lets have a chat and figure out what you want from my tuition. I’ll look at what your experiences and abilities currently are, what your musical inspirations and aspirations are, and what you want to achieve. I can then tailor my lessons to be as effective as possible for you.
I can focus on what you think are problem areas in your production, give you critical feedback to identify weaknesses that you might not know you have, create challenges, and teach you strategies to optimise your workflow, creativity and efficiency which in turn creates more time for you to focus on your craft and hence improves the rate at which you develop.

I’m able to teach and supply information regarding software and plugins, hardware and monitoring, studio set-up, optimisation and acoustic treatment including materials and construction processes. As well as this I can give advice and mentoring in navigating the music industry, musicians mindset, communication, networks and contacts.

Lessons can be conducted via Zoom, at my home (in my studio), or I can travel to you if you live locally for an additional fee. The benefit of zoom is that I can record the lesson for future reference if you would like to revisit part of it.

Skill Sets:

DAW Basics: Ableton/Bitwig

I’m very flexible and happy to cater my sessions around your needs.

If you’re curious, get in touch and let's explore your musical potential!
