About Dayton

I have spent the past 16 years working in elementary education, helping students build strong foundations in literacy, critical thinking, and communication. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught in both English and French programs, giving me a strong understanding of how students develop language skills across different learning environments.

My classroom experience spans multiple grade levels, where I have supported students in developing confidence as readers, writers, and thinkers. I have also worked extensively with students preparing for EQAO assessments, helping them strengthen reading comprehension, writing organization, and test-taking strategies aligned with the Ontario curriculum.

Teaching in both English and French has allowed me to develop flexible and inclusive instructional approaches that meet students where they are and help them grow. My goal has always been to create supportive learning environments where students feel confident, capable, and motivated to succeed.

With more than a decade and a half in the classroom, I bring both experience and passion to every student I work with, focusing on building the skills that help them succeed not only in school but in all areas of communication and learning.

About the lesson

Strong English skills open the door to success in every subject. As an experienced educator with a deep understanding of the Ontario Language Curriculum, I know exactly what students need to succeed in reading, writing, and communication at their grade level.

I specialize in helping students strengthen their reading comprehension, organize their ideas clearly, and become confident writers. Whether a student is struggling with essays, understanding texts, grammar, or simply finding their voice in writing, I break skills down into clear, manageable steps that make learning less stressful and far more effective.

My tutoring focuses on building real understanding—not just finishing assignments. Students learn how to analyze texts, structure strong paragraphs, expand vocabulary, and communicate their ideas with confidence. Each session is tailored to the student’s needs so they leave not only with completed work, but with stronger skills they can use in the classroom and beyond.

Parents see the difference quickly: clearer writing, stronger reading comprehension, improved grades, and most importantly, students who feel confident in their ability to express themselves.

English is more than a subject—it’s the foundation for learning. My goal is to help every student build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.
