About Elizabeth

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, and I am a student at Pace University studying Childhood and Middle School education with a concentration in History.

I have extensive experience working one-on-one with children in tutoring settings as well as in the field of education. My experiences include assisting an elementary student with homework after school on a weekly basis, working in an after-school tutoring center in my hometown, serving as a preschool teacher, and participating in student teaching, where I collaborate in a New York City classroom, providing students with more individualized attention.

Additionally, I serve as an assistant to the head of assessments at Pace University, where I have gained substantial knowledge about effective assessment methods for students of all age groups. I also hold the position of treasurer in the Future Educators Association at Pace University, a club where we organize events for aspiring teachers to engage directly with the community.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, reading, and going for runs in the park!

I adopt a student-centric approach to learning by initially establishing rapport and trust. I strongly believe that optimal learning occurs within a supportive and trusting relationship between the student and teacher. Additionally, I highly value differentiation and personalized learning for each student. Recognizing that no two students are alike, I understand the necessity of tailoring education to individual needs. What works for one child may not work for another, and I am mindful of this diversity.
I actively encourage student empowerment through promoting student ownership. I firmly believe that when students take pride in their work, their growth flourishes.

An average one-hour lesson plan:

Each lesson will encompass a specific learning and skill objective tailored to the individual student and the session.

Lessons will commence with a discussion of the goals and objectives for that particular session.
We will then proceed to review previously covered material or schoolwork from the day.

Approximately 20 to 30 minutes of the session will be dedicated to instruction, introducing new concepts or revisiting assignments given at school.

Following instruction, we will engage in practice and application through exercises or activities related to the lesson.

Finally, each lesson will conclude with assessment by both the teacher and student. I strongly emphasize the significance of assessment as a valuable educational tool. Self-assessment assists students in taking control of their learning and gaining confidence.

Booking lessons with me will provide you or your student with an individualized, student-centric approach. I am committed to identifying and accommodating each student's unique learning style to ensure their best learning experience.

My lessons cater to elementary and middle school students, encompassing grades K-8.
