About Kylie
I am a second-year bachelor of education student in the primary junior division at the University of Ottawa, as well as a graduate from Nipissing University with a BA in Social Welfare and Social Development. During the past four years I have been in different working positions such as respite services, working as a counselor at a children's treatment center, running a school program with big brothers and big sisters that have all allowed me to gain different skills and strategies that have allowed me to create a great learning atmosphere for my students. In addition, through these, I have also learned that everyone learns differently and with this, it is important to make sure teaching is done in an adaptive and inclusive way that allows each child to learn confidently and comfortably at their own pace and in a way that makes the most sense to them.

As a student in the bachelor of education program, I have experience teaching classes at the elementary school level. My best teaching technique would be to learn together and be interactive with my students. This means not just giving a lecture but having the students engaged in the lesson with the use of media and posters, asking questions, getting them to talk and discuss what they think of something as it is being taught. It is important to have the students involved in their learning. In addition, I make sure to integrate the student's interests within the lesson to keep them engaged. Having hands-on and visual aid lessons also have been proven to help students when learning, allowing them to get into the lesson and be part of their learning journey. Every child has the potential to strive with their learning it is just a matter of having a teacher who will observe them well enough to figure out their academic strengths and drive from it.
