I think the best way to teach computer programming is to first focus on fundamentals.It was super challenging at first, but the reason behind that decision was to ensure that we had a full understanding of that goes on under the hood. It can take a little bit longer to approach learning in this matter. A lot of the time, students just want to dive in and start making things - they want instant gratification. Focusing on fundamentals is not going to get you instant gratification. But if you want well trained programmers, you want to make sure they what they are really doing, before they start implementing it.
