About Maya
I have spent five dynamic years helping more than 170 students fall in love with life science. My background includes a degree in biological sciences with specializations in plant biology and microbiology. I have worked in schools with environmental programs and led student expeditions. My students range from examination preparation to independent research. I am skilled at engaging students who found biology boring by showing them living systems drama. I maintain living collections for demonstrations. Outside of teaching, I grow rare plants and volunteer with public health education. I believe biology education should empower informed decisions.

My biology teaching is vibrant hands-on and connected to the living world. For plant science I incorporate germination experiments and ecological fieldwork. Microbiology is taught through culture experiments and discussions of the human microbiome. Human health is connected to nutrition and public health case studies. I use inquiry-based approach where students design experiments and draw conclusions. Visual learning is central employing detailed diagrams and concept maps. For exam preparation I teach precise terminology and application to unfamiliar scenarios. I also emphasize ethical dimensions including genetic modification and conservation.
