About Riana
Hi! I’m Riana, a Computer Engineering student at the University of Toronto with a strong academic background and a passion for teaching. I’ve worked on real-world engineering projects involving robotics, physics simulations, and coding—so I bring both practical insight and academic understanding to every lesson. I’m patient, encouraging, and always committed to helping students feel confident and capable. Whether you're preparing for an upcoming test or trying to get ahead in class, I’ll support you with clear explanations, personalized strategies, and a no-judgment learning space. Students often tell me that I make difficult topics seem easy, and that they appreciate my ability to break things down and explain why something works—not just how. I take pride in seeing my students grow not just in skill, but in confidence and curiosity. You’re not just getting a tutor—you’re getting a mentor who cares about your progress and wants to see you succeed. I look forward to learning with you!

As a Computer Engineering student at the University of Toronto, I understand how challenging—and rewarding—STEM subjects can be. I offer tutoring in math, physics, and introductory programming for middle and high school students, whether you're aiming to strengthen your fundamentals or excel in advanced coursework.
My Teaching Approach
I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my methods to suit your learning style. I focus on building conceptual clarity first, followed by guided problem-solving and independent practice. I break down complex ideas into manageable steps and often use real-world examples, especially from engineering and robotics, to make lessons more relatable and exciting.
A Typical Lesson
Warm-up (5–10 min): Quick review of previous material or a mini-quiz to reinforce learning
Concept Breakdown (20–30 min): Step-by-step explanation of new topics using diagrams, analogies, or interactive tools
Guided Practice (20 min): Work through problems together, identify areas of difficulty, and fix misconceptions
Wrap-up & Homework Plan (5 min): Summarize key takeaways, assign custom practice problems, and set goals for next time
What Sets Me Apart
I bring an engineering mindset—structured, analytical, and solution-oriented—to every session
I use visuals, sketches, and simulations to teach abstract concepts in a concrete way
As someone who's recently taken these courses, I relate to students’ challenges and explain concepts in a way that actually clicks
Who I Teach
My lessons are perfect for:
Middle school and high school students (Grades 6–12)
Students preparing for standardized tests, IB, or AP-level coursework
Anyone needing support in math (algebra, geometry, calculus), physics, or coding fundamentals
I’m here to help you build confidence, improve grades, and most importantly, develop a lifelong curiosity for learning.
