Hello! My name is Colette, and I am currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have excelled in both AP Language and AP Literature, which has given me a strong foundation in reading, writing, and analyzing complex texts. My teaching approach centers on making English engaging, clear, and relevant to each student’s needs. I combine close reading, discussion, and creative exercises to deepen understanding of literature, poetry, and literacy skills. I focus on building critical thinking and writing abilities by breaking down texts into manageable parts and encouraging students to express their own interpretations.
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up discussion or review of previous material, followed by guided reading or analysis of a poem, passage, or literary work. I incorporate writing prompts, vocabulary-building activities, and personalized feedback to reinforce concepts. Homework and practice assignments are designed to build skills progressively without overwhelming the student.
What sets me apart is my experience with AP Literature and AP Language coursework, which gives me insight into advanced analysis and exam preparation. I adapt lessons to each student’s goals—whether that’s improving school performance, preparing for standardized tests, or simply gaining confidence in English.
My lessons are ideal for middle and high school students, especially those preparing for AP exams or seeking support in literature and writing. I also welcome learners who want to improve their poetry appreciation and literacy skills in a patient, supportive environment.
