About Arjun
I've just finished studying A-Level History (The French Revolution and Napoleon, the Early Stuarts, and the Ottoman Empire), Latin (Virgil's Aeneid Book 2, Tacitus XII-XIV, Ovid), and English Literature (American Literature, The Tempest, the Duchess of Malfi, Paradise Lost) at Harrow School.
I'm starting my History degree at UCL in September 2026.

A student who understands why an argument works will remember it far longer than one who's memorised a paragraph structure. For essay-based subjects (History, English, Latin literature), I work through material in three stages: first making sure the content itself is solid (dates, texts, vocabulary), then focusing on how to structure an argument that actually answers the question asked, and finally practising under exam conditions so the technique holds up under time pressure. I mark up past papers and real student work in detail rather than just talking in the abstract, since seeing exactly where marks are won or lost is what makes advice stick.
Standard sessions run 45–60 minutes, which is usually enough to cover one focused topic or one full past-paper question in depth. For essay subjects I sometimes suggest a longer 90-minute session in the run-up to exams, so there's time to plan, write, and get feedback on a full essay in one sitting.
I've been tutoring Latin privately at GCSE-level for several months, and ran clinic sessions for younger students at my school.
GCSE students in History, English, or Latin, and younger A-Level students (Years 12) who want extra support with essay technique or exam preparation. I'm particularly suited to Latin tutoring given how few tutors offer it at GCSE level, and to English/History students who need help specifically with argument structure and essay writing rather than just content recall.
