About Tori
Hi! I’m an English tutor who helps high school and college students improve their writing, reading comprehension, and overall confidence in English.
Whether you’re working on essays, preparing for exams, struggling with grammar, or just want to become a stronger, clearer writer, I tailor each lesson to your goals and learning style.
I focus on practical skills—how to structure essays, develop strong arguments, analyze texts, and communicate ideas clearly. My sessions are supportive, low-pressure, and designed to help you feel confident using English in academic and real-world settings.
If English feels overwhelming or confusing, we’ll break it down step by step and make it manageable (and even enjoyable!).

TEACHING METHODS:
My teaching style is student-centered and goal-oriented. I adapt each lesson to the student’s needs, whether that’s improving grades, preparing for exams, or becoming more confident in writing and discussion.
I believe English is best learned through practice and feedback, not memorization. We work together actively during lessons, and I guide students through examples before asking them to apply the skills themselves
TYPICAL LESSON PLAN:
1. Check-in (5 minutes) -- Review goals, upcoming assignments, or problem areas. Review of previous material if needed.
2. Skill Focus (15–20 minutes) -- Targeted lesson (essay structure, grammar concept, literary analysis, etc.)
3. Guided Practice (20 minutes) -- Apply the skill together (writing, revising, analyzing text). Immediate feedback and adjustments
4. Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 minutes) -- Summary of what was learned. Suggestions for practice or upcoming lessons.
*Lessons are flexible and can be adjusted based on homework deadlines, exams, or essays! We can work together to tailor lesson plan to your specific needs.
WHY ME?
I graduated with my English and Literature B.A. 5 years ago, and have since worked as a copy editor and copywriter. This means that I understand clearly the demands and stresses of current academic settings, while also bringing years of workplace expertise to apply to push your writing further.
