About Charlotte
I am an English student and journalist who has been a freelance tutor for GCSE and A-Level students for just under a year. I have experience in teaching both English Language and English Literature, and I have delivered over 70 tutorials for both private clients and in partnership with schools that fund the tutoring programme to help their more struggling students. I have an advanced DBS check, and my proudest moment was with a private client. I tutored her in two of her A-level subjects. When she came to me, she had attained a D and an E in her first year of study, and I raised her grades to a B and a C (respectively), helping her gain a place at her dream University.

The first step of my tutorials will be knowledge: memorization techniques/strategies for key words, theories and concepts so that anything you don't understand will be clarified in a way tailored to you.
The second step will be structure. In essay-based subjects how you convey the knoweldge is how you hit the pass mark, so I will aim to provide students with techniques and a concrete action plan on how to tackle really intimidating high mark questions.
All of my tutorials will have a substantial emphasis on exam technique: looking at examainers reports, sample answers and mark schemes in order to work out what examainers are looking for. Once you know this, you can apply this to your own work to ensure success.
All of these techniques are designed to help you understand their course from every possible angle. With understanding comes confidence, and with confidence comes happiness and success.
How I will apply these techniques precisely depends on the student: it's their learning so they should have the freedom to lead the way in whatever way they think will benefit them most.
