About Jim
I've been teaching in colleges for over 30 years, but also in high schools. I've tutored in several college writing centers and directed one of them. I wrote books for a children's book company, worked for a newspaper, and also worked extensively with job and college application materials. I've also taught both fiction and poetry writing.

As a writing teacher, I find it best to work with students on a completed draft they bring to me. I ask a lot of questions to make the experience enjoyable for students, but also attend to lots of concerns of grammar and style. I have a PhD in literature as well as in composition.
