About Hugh
Hi! My name is Hugh, I'm from a small village in the south of Galway. I'm currently living in Galway City as I study a BA in English & Creative Writing at UG.
I have experience as an English teacher for children at an international summer camp- at which I managed, taught, and organised children aged from 5 to 17- as well as a facilitator of philosophical workshops for younger university students over the course of an academic year, giving me experience in engaging with all ages and abilities.
My experiences in English in general, however, go much further than that, as I have achieved a H1 grade in my English Leaving Certificate, won several youth awards for my creative writing, been published once, achieved the highest honours in a succession of public speaking grades, served as Debates Convener for all secondary schools throughout Connacht, and now serve as the Vice-Auditor of one of the most prolific literary and debating societies in the country.
English and literature, to put it simply, are my greatest passions in life, and having already had the opportunities to foster and enhance others' abilities and experiences of English and literature through a variety of outlets, I now aim to do the same through tutoring. I can't wait!

As a student of English at university level and the recipient of a H1 grade in Leaving Cert English, my lessons are best suited to secondary school students in an exam year looking to maximise their English results while also having a positive experience of the subject. My lessons typically last an hour each and will systemically cover each of the materials, skills, and tactics that will help you maximise your English grade.
Additionally, I also offer separate language classes aimed at those still developing their capabilities within the English language, whatever level you may be at. I have relevant experience as an English teacher at an international summer camp, for younger children specifically.
Lastly, as a student of Creative Writing and as a writer who has won several youth awards and has been published, creative writing of all mediums is also a keen interest of mine. In this area, I offer exclusively one-to-one lessons with an aspiring writer.
