About Sharon
I am a former English academic, who graduated with the top First from Queen Mary and Westfield College, London in 1996, winning all the academic prizes. I then went to Jesus College, Cambridge to study for an M.Phil. in Medieval and Renaissance Literature, being one of fifteen students out of thousands of applicants, before returning to Queen Mary, London to do my Ph.D. in English which was supervised by Professor Lisa Jardine. I then graduated from Greenwich University with a Postgraduate Certificate of Education with a specialism in Further and Higher Education, which qualified me to teach from 14 year-olds to adult learners. I have taught at Queen Mary, London, Birkbeck College, London, Kingston University and I was the Deputy Head of Humanities and an English lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire. I've also taught mature students for the W.E.A. and have run private creative writing groups, as well as tutoring many various kinds of writers and students for many years. In addition, I was an A' Level AQA examiner for English Literature and I also trained as a life coach with Martha Beck. I look forward to supporting you to achieve whatever educational or creative goals you have.

I have taught a range of students from those working towards their A' levels to undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as mature students. My years of experience teaching at universities and sixth forms and in adult education have taught me that encouragement is key in terms of helping students excel, so I have a supportive and fun approach. My personal tutoring sessions can run from an hour to two hours, depending on the students' needs, and I can help you to successfully study various humanities subjects, including writing essays and dissertations and exam revision as I was an A' level examiner. I am also an experienced writer and editor so I can also help you to finesse creative writing or academic pieces for publication.
