About Talal

My name is Talal. I am 22 and am in university; studying mechanical engineering. I have always enjoyed teaching and tutoring those younger than me, viewing everyone as a younger sibling that I can help or pass any knowledge I have onto. I was always good at maths and algebra while also being good at physics and science in general. I also pursue creative writing as a hobby.

Our school has a tutoring programme that we could do and when I was a part of that programme I realised how much I loved to teach. Watching people succeed and knowing that I have helped them in some way really brightens my day and makes me feel like I am making a difference in people's lives.

After starting university, I began freelancing as a tutor and have been teaching several students over the course of 4 years. The experience has only made me enjoy teaching more and helped me understand how to better teach and keep students interested in the lessons.

I also am generally a humorous person and am always able to draw people out, even if they're shy. I am easy to talk to and can take anything in stride and will be able to adapt to whatever kind of student wants my help.

When it comes to teaching English, reading comprehension and creative writing, I've found it to be very different from teaching more exact subjects like sciences or math. While in maths and sciences, the students need to learn specific rules, I've always found that in English studues is better to help students discover a desire to communicate.

When writing, it should be important for the student to wish to tell their story, and when reading it is important for the student to be truly immersed in the text.

For GCSE students, I will strive to draw out my students ability to describe worlds that they can place themselves in while communicating in a clear and interesting manner. I am also happy to help students understand the different kinds of text they can come across and be asked to write and how they differ from one another. Learning which style of communication is appropriate at what moment is key to learning how to communicate affectively in society.

For all grades below GCSE, I am well equipped to teach the rules about the English language, regarding spellings and punctuation, as well how to structure different kinds of sentences for different purposes. I am happy to teach any students from primary to secondary school.

For all grades, I am also happy to advise when it comes to reviewing texts and providing feedback even if it is for irregular sessions or one-off sessions, for example, reviewing past papers or school assignments before they are submitted.

My lessons usually last between 1-2 hoursbas I have found anything longer leads to the concentration of students to wander.

I am confident to teach all students that are 16 years and younger (or GCSE and below) and also have experience teaching students with autism and ADHD.
